United States Senator Amy Klobuchar was in North Branch to meet with community leaders and supporters at the Oak Inn. Sen. Klobuchar shared some anecdotes about her first weeks in office ad talked about her priority issues, such as energy initiatives and global warming, a minimum wage bill, ethics reforms, bringing about a change in course in the Iraq War, the mental health parity bill and tax relief for small business. She took questions and heard from school district, city and county officials.

Sen. Klobuchar said she was advised by former Minn. Senator Walter Mondale that when people go to serve in the senate they "either grow or swell," and she plans to grow. She said she runs into non-elected, working people on the hill who still talk fondly about Sen. Paul Wellstone, when they learn she's from Minnesota. Klobuchar is pictured with Chisago County Attorney Janet Reiter in smaller photo. Klobuchar, who served as Hennepin County Attorney, said she thoroughly enjoyed being county attorney, but it was much more unpredictable than Washington D.C. is.
