Gladys had a chemistry degree and was a Lieutenant in the WAVEs during WWII.
She had a keen mind and wit, was an avid gardener, environmentalist, volunteer, played and won Scrabble games up until last week. She will be dearly missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood; second husband, Ed Miller; brother, Everett Hawkinson.
She is survived by children Jana (Roger Carr), Greg (Cheryl), Jonelle (James) Leet, Gretchen (James McCreary); grandchildren Megan (Aaron), Kersten, Brennan, Brooks, Elwood and Olivia; sister Helen (Milton) Hanson; brother Elliott (Marge) Hawkinson; sister-in-law Madelyn Hawkinson; dear friend Sue Ann Anderson and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Chisago Lake Lutheran, Center City. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to The Nature Conservancy, Heifer International or Audubon Society of Minnesota.
