If you have issues with the property tax statement recently mailed out in Chisago County, and feel you are being wrongly-assessed for taxes-- you need to begin to address that now. The best place to start in appealing your property assessment is contacting the county assessor's office. Sometimes the assessment is based on out-of-date information on your property.

Examples of adjustments that can be made by the assessor office can be related to simple issues like the parcel size data or structure square footage is inaccurate; or house improvements are documented in error; or maybe you experienced a catastrophe like a fire or flood damage.

Should you not receive an administrative adjustment at the county assessor office, then you go before the local Board of Review for your city or township.

Ideally, you should call your city or township clerk to reserve a spot on the Board of Review agenda but you can also just show up. Or, you may submit a written appeal of your property assessment.

~ Wyoming Board of Review is April 28 at 6 p.m. at city hall

~ Center City Board of Review is April 29 at 7 p.m. in the county government center, meeting room 142

~ Chisago City Board of Review convenes at 7 p.m. at city hall on May 6.

~ North Branch is holding Board of Review April 29, at 7 p.m. at city hall

~ Harris convenes its Board May 4 at 6 p.m. at city hall.

(Taylors Falls, Shafer and Rush City Boards of Review have already met.)

~ Amador Township Board of Review is April 27 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall in Almelund

~ Chisago Lake Township Board of Review is April 30 at the government center in meeting room 142, at 1:30 in the afternoon.

~ Franconia Township holds Board of Review May 7 at 1:30 p.m. at town hall.

~ Fish Lake Township Board is April 27 at 7 p.m. at town hall.

~ Lent Township convenes its Board of Review at 6 p.m. May 7 at township hall.

~ Nessel Township Board of Review meets April 29 at 9:30 a.m. at township hall.

~ Rushseba Township Board meets May 7 at 9:30 a.m. at town hall

~ Sunrise Township Board of Review is May 6 at 9:30 a.m. at town hall.

The county's Board of Appeal and Equalization meets June 16 at the government center in Center City at 6:30 p.m., make an appointment and only if you are denied an adjustment by your local Board.
