Taylors Falls Elementary students who read six or more of the 12 nominees on the 2008-2009 Maud Hart Lovelace list participated in an ice cream party recently in the school's media center. Students enjoyed ice cream treats, discussed books and played games. Maud Hart Lovelace was a famous Minnesota author who grew up in Mankato, Minnesota at the turn of the twentieth century. She is best known for the Betsy-Tacy series of books. Each year since her death in 1980, MYRA (Minnesota Youth Reading Association) honors Maud Hart Lovelace through a children and young adult book award.
