The calendar is set for this summer's Harmony in the Park in Lindstrom. Live musical performances are taking place Wednesday nights, at the bandshell in Lions Park, next door to the Lindstrom City Hall and Community Center, located off Akerson St., south of Hwy. 8.

Harmony in the Park programs begin with a community-oriented event at 6:30 p.m. Examples are a police department demonstration, or fire fighters displaying their trucks and equipment...the high school dance team doing their award winning routines. You'll want to check the listings all summer and see what's being offered.

Rusty Johnson, Chairman of the Harmony in the Parks, said a new offering this year is "Taste of Lindstrom" slated for the night of the "Elvis Experience" concert June 17. Many local food vendors are showcasing their specialities this night beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Concert schedule is:

June 3 the Mouldy Figs, a dixieland and jazz group. (A mouldy fig is an old tyme jazz musician)

June 10 the St. Croix Valley Orchestra performs (many instruments, classical and orchestral numbers)

June 17 the Elvis Experience

June 24 The Neighberz, pop and easy listening

July 1 DyVersaCo, a polka group, with cloggers performing at 6:30 p.m.

July 8 Monroe Crossing, a bluegrass and gospel style group

July 15 Trinity Church holds a youngsters carnival before this concert, by Danville Family Band, a folk group.

July 22 it's Bob and the Beachcombers

July 29 Harmony in the Park welcomes "Sister Rooster" the winner of the Minnesota Idol competition (country music).

August 5 the Fridley City Band comes to entertain

August 12 the rock band Deuce is on the bandshell stage. This night is also set aside for providing some information about the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall that's coming in September, and will be a night of tribute to veterans. There will be military vehicles for the kids to see and other displays.

August 19 the Banjo Bandits are in the park.

August 26 is the final Wednesday concert featuring Alzen Family Bluegrass Band.

Rusty Johnson says concessions vendors, including the popular ice cream lady, are going to be at the park with various treats. You are also encouraged to bring a picnic spread, or just bring a lawn chair and yourselves and friends to enjoy this free community event.

Harmony in the Park is co-sponsored by the East Central Regional Arts Council, and Plastics Products, major corporate donor. Other business support comes from security State Bank of Marine, Virga Chiropractic, Dinnerbel, Recycled wardrobes and Lindstrom Eye Care.
