The Chisago County Press has been hit by the technology wave.

Users of the social networking Web site Facebook are now able to become a 'fan' of the Chisago County Press and interact with other fans and some of the staff.

As a 23-year-old college student, I was hit by the wave that is Facebook long ago, and it's continually evolved to be a large web of college students, high school students, parents and businesses. We thought it would be a prime time to get the Press extended out to a few of the more savvy web users.

There will also be up-to-date news briefs, as well as links to some of the most important articles of the week in news, schools, sports and everything in between.

As far as sports, beginning in the winter season, I will be publishing extra sports photos each week on the site. Sometimes, I just have two or three cool wrestling photos or gymnastic photos or basketball photos that I just can't pick between. Putting those few extra that we think are print-worthy, but we just don't have the space for, will enable readers to get even more of a feel of how a game or match went.

The tool will also help us interact with our readers more. Got a simple question about the town board meeting from last night? Ask it on there, and it will be seen almost instantly.

Need to know the score of the Chisago Lakes-North Branch basketball game last night? Ask us on Facebook, and we'll post it in minutes.

It is just another wonderful medium that technology has provided for us, as a newspaper, and you, as readers, to connect. Let's use this tool to it's fullest! To become a fan, simply search "Chisago County Press" on Facebook, and click "Become a Fan"

I couldn't get out of this column without at least mentioning something sports related.

On that note, a big congratulations goes out to Joe Mauer on his American League Most Valuable Player award. Nobody in the league deserved it more than him this year, and, frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't unanimous.

Either way, it's going to take an armored car full of cash to keep him in Minnesota, but if the Twins would like to avoid a mutiny of their fan base with a new stadium to fill, they'd be wise to succumb to whatever Mauer wants and pay the man.

or, you may bring it in to the office.

Sports stuff would be great, but, please do not limit yourselves. Please do not feel offended if your contribution is not included.
