Among firsts at the North Branch wrestling banquet this year was the awarding of the Leon Leuer Family Wrestling Scholarship.

Departing senior Jacob Wermerskirchen was the recipient of the $500 Leon Leuer Family Wrestling Scholarship at the wrestling awards banquet on Monday night. Becky Leuer, representing the Leuer Family, Jake Wermerskirchen, and Head Coach Tony Aho.

This award was given by Becky Lauer in honor of her father who was a two-time state champion and also a second place finisher at Wayzata High School. This $500 scholarship usually was given to a wrestler from the Wayzata High School, but the family decided to give it to a North Branch wrestler this year.
