Amador/Almelund sewer project manager asks for you to submit site plan
The Amador Township Subordinate Sewer District (SSD) was established to allow officials to plan for a new wastewater treatment system. The planning has looked into communal systems, and other more traditional municipal systems. There will be either on-site individual systems installed or a communal wastewater treatment program developed for properties that can't physically handle a system.
The SSD includes 56 properties. The driving force behind this effort is that 31 of the known residential systems have compliance issues. The township initiated a process a couple of years ago starting to identify issues so the area can apply for grants and other funding aids to respond to wastewater treatment needs in this district.
Jeff Goldy, Midwest Assistance Program, attended the recent open house at Almelund Fire Hall to discuss the district and how the process is going.
Goldy was distributing graph paper forms, on which residents were asked to provide a "site plan" or "survey" of their parcel. The form should show, as much to scale as possible, where the dwelling sits on the lot, where an existing septic system is, and any other characteristics of the lot that might be valuable in laying out an individual septic system. Those who picked up forms at the open house are reminded to return them to Township Supervisor Jim Stockwell so he knows you wish to have your system field evaluated as part of this program.
The township recently hired Wenck Associates Inc. to conduct the community assessment, which is the field work that starts in spring.
