Robert "Bob" Miklya, age 90 of Lent Township.

Bob was born January 19, 1920 in South St. Paul, Minnesota. He passed away January 24, 2010.

Preceded in death by his father, brother and uncle.

Bob is survived by daughter Karen (Foster) Mooney; son Brad (Anne); daughter Dayle (Douglas) Bistodeau; brother Nick; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In 1933, as a teenager, Bob came to Chisago County, Lent Township, with his parents.

He farmed until he went to work for the Austin Company where he was employed for 24 years until he retired in 1984.

While working for the Austin Company, he and his wife Jean spent time in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Washington, Idaho, and California. During the 1950's, Bob taught Firearm Safety classes to youth in Chisago County. For a number of years, he was on the Lent Township Board of Supervisors and also served as a Minnesota DNR Fire Warden. Bob was a football fan, deer hunter, fisherman, and a gardener growing mostly sweet corn and pumpkins.

Funeral Service 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.

Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment at Stacy Cemetery in Stacy, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred.
