Jane Elizabeth Benson, age 90, of Center City, passed away on July 22, 2010, at the Villages of North Branch. She was born March 28, 1920 in Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Benson; parents, Hilding & Alma Swanson, also of Center City; and brother, Roy Swanson of Bremerton, WA. She will be deeply missed by her children: James L. (Winnie) Benson of Center City, Janine E. (Kent) Lindblad of Lindstrom, Jerry R. (Kathy) Benson of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren: Susan Lee, J. Robert Benson, Angela Donald, Nichole Johnson; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Jane was raised on a dairy farm just east of Center City, graduated from Chisago Lakes High School, and married Russell Benson in 1939. They farmed on the north side of Little Lake, while Jane worked as a seamstress in St. Croix Falls, wired early computer circuit boards in Wyoming, and worked the assembly line at the plastics plant in Lindstrom. She loved to garden, always had flowers around the house, inside and out, and in her later years, spent many hours cutting and sewing quilts for those in need. She passed away at the Villages of North Branch after spending her day enjoying the Villages' garden.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, 1 Summit Ave, Center City (651-257-6300), with a lunch and social time to follow.
