The North Branch Knowledge Bowl team pulled off a stunning victory to become the 2009-2010 North Suburban Conference Champions. According to Knowledge Bowl advisor Chas Bettendorf, "it was actually quite an exciting finish, akin to a dramatic comeback in the final seconds of a sporting event."

The team correctly answered the final four questions of the tournament Feb. 23 to win the competition by one point. It is the highest level of success ever for North Branch in the North Suburban Conference bowl. Team members Erik Fitcha, Ali Zimmerman, Jacob Wermerskirchen, Jacob Kolke, and Scott Tolzmann excelled in the event, and the entire North Branch team also brought home the Academic All Conference Award, with a GPA average of 3.88, as well.
