Sunrise River School students celebrate "I Love to Read" month

Students at the Sunrise River School were involved in a variety of activities to celebrate reading in February, which is "I Love to Read" month. Students guessed the favorite books of the teachers. Many students were very curious what books their teachers liked and were excited when the results were posted. Students played book fair bingo. Each classroom created a bingo sheet out of a book fair flyer and each day two or three new book titles where announced for students to mark off their cards. Each morning with an announcement and story from a mystery reader, each classroom guessed which teacher they thought was the mystery reader. The last week of February students shared their favorite book by recreating a cover for it. The covers were used to decorate the hallways and media center of Sunrise River Elementary. Students ended "I Love to Read" month celebrating the National Education Association's Read Across America Day by reading books by Dr. Seuss and dressing as their favorite book characters.
