It's time once again for our early renewal campaign. You can take $1.50 off of your annual subscription by using the coupon on the top of page 2. Please clip out the coupon and mail it in along with your payment and we will get you updated in the system. Please make sure that your mailing label is attached to the coupon.

In the near future, we will be mailing our renewal notices to all who have not yet renewed. All subscription are due by May 1 of each year. If by chance your renewal notice and your payment cross in the mail, please don't worry, it takes us a short time to get caught up with all of the mailed renewals.

The County Press is committed to making this a better newspaper than ever, and as always we welcome any and all comments. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to be at every event at all times and hope you understand. When we do a nice job we like to hear from you and when we don't measure up we know we will hear from you be it a phone call or a letter.

For the past 110 years, this newspaper has served the public, and I for one would like to say thank you. Thank you to our advertisers who have been so loyal and most importantly, thank you the readers.

If you want to see a bright spot in this dismal economy, look no farther than Lindstrom. Virga Chiropractic and Lindstrom Chiropractic have both done some amazing things to their businesses. Lindstrom Chiropractic has just expanded and remodeled their building just west of town. They have made some beautiful changes to the exterior and interior of their building.

Virga Chiropractic has taken their successful clinic and transformed it into a wellness institute. Joe and Kathy have really researched to find the best machines to help you with your aches and pains. If you get a chance, stop by for a tour of their new wellness center, you will not believe your eyes.

Are you getting the itch to finally dip your boat in the lake and catch some fish? I know every time I see my boat, I get a little more excited.

In May, the Chisago Lakes Lions Club will be holding a fishing tournament that is both good for the lakes and fun for you and me. They will be holding the first ever Carp Festival. Carp you say? Who on earth would want to catch a bottom feeder like that? That is exactly why the Lions are having a fishing contest. The idea is to rid the lakes of Carp which damage the vegetation in our lakes and thus affect those great fish we really love to catch and eat.

The contest will be held on May 22 and will be held North and South Center Lakes. The contest is open for archery, spearing, dip nets and of course rod and reel fishing. There will be cash prizes given out for biggest Carp, as well as a drawing for a big screen television. At Lions Park in Lindstrom, there will be a Carp festival that includes games and events for the entire family.

Call your buddies and plan on fishing May 22. Have some fun and help our lakes all at the same time. For more information or to register, please call Steve at 651-462-7900 or email him at [email protected].

Please remember that March is Food Share Month. If you can find anything that is non perishable in your pantry that you could part with, please donate it. I have spoken with the Lions Club and they say the need for food is still very much there. The schools and churches have been doing a wonderful job collecting food. You do not have to clean out your pantry, but any little bit will help.

If you purchased this edition of the County Press from the store shelf, first let me say thank you. Have you ever thought about subscribing? Why not have the Press delivered to your mail box? The cost of a subscription is less than purchasing a paper at the store.

For a limited time, new subscribers will receive two free passes for a historic train ride in Osceola. That's a $34 value. So, if you have thought about subscribing to the Press, why not now? You could be riding on the train through the beautiful St. Croix Valley. To start a new subscription, call us at 651-257-5115 and mention the train deal. Offer for new subscribers only.

The local Veterans would like to remind you that if you would like an engraved brick installed in Memorial Park in Lindstrom, the deadline is approaching. Please pick up a registration pamphlet at the Chisago County Press or the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce
