On Thursday, March 18, North Branch Area High School senior Brian Grand was surrounded by coaches and family as he signed a letter of intent to attend Drake University, where he will play Division I soccer. The decision comes after Grand closed his illustrious soccer and football career, in which he holds all of North Branch's scoring records in soccer, and has the longest field goal in North Branch football history. Grand still has his track and field season left this spring, and after qualifying for the state tournament as a sophomore, an injury prevented him from tourney last year. He hopes his senior season can be his best one yet.
