Pictured (l to r): North Branch Area Middle School (NBAMS) student council representatives Charlie Linder, Cassidy White, and Megan Carlson, receive the School Spotlight award from Marilyn Jones of the Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation. The award was given in front of an all-school assembly that featured mascot Thor and a performance by the middle school jazz band. This year marks the second time the middle school has received a Spotlight Award for academic excellence; it received the award in 2007 as well. This year, NBAMS was the only middle school in the state to receive the award.
