Wyoming Elementary students visit local parks, receive prizes

The Wyoming Park and Recreation Board, in partnership with the Statewide Health Improvement Program, (SHIP) created a Wyoming Parks and Adventure Guide and provided them to students at Wyoming Elementary. The Park Adventure Guide contains the locations of all parks in Wyoming, welcome messages from the Park and Recreation Board and Police Chief Paul Hoppe, as well as a scavenger hunt and safety checklist.

The goal of the Park Adventure Guide is to encourage kids and their families to be physically active, enjoy the outdoors and visit the 16 parks located in Wyoming. Students were encouraged to turn in a drawing, photograph, poem or story about their adventures. All entries were eligible to win prizes donated by local businesses; twelve students received prizes including laser tag and bowling certificates from Stars and Strikes and bike helmets from Fairview Health System. Some entries, along with the Wyoming Parks Adventure Guide will be posted on-line at wyomingmn.org.

Chisago County residents interested in learning more about SHIP are encouraged to contact SHIP Coordinator, Kari Mattson at [email protected] or 651-329 2663.
