The Wildcats continued their second-half swoon with a loss to Irondale to close out the regular season last week.
In their last North Suburban Conference match of the year, the 'Cats failed to provide much defense, and that, in turn, made their offense clunky and difficult.
They dropped the first set to the Knights 25-18, and although things did get better from there, they were never quite good enough for Chisago.
The Wildcats dropped the second set 25-21, and the last set 25-20 as Irondale completed the sweep.
Zoe Hansen led the girls with seven kills and one ace. Junior Nicole Zacher had a good game offensively, getting six kills and five aces on the night. Senior Kasie Shoberg has an impressive all-around night with one kill, 10 assists, five blocks and two digs.
The loss was the Wildcats' ninth in a row and 15th of their last 16 games. The second half skid sent Chisago Lakes all the way down to the 10th seed in Section 7AAA. They traveled to Cambridge-Isanti on Wednesday to take on the seventh-seeded Bluejackets, who are 14-12 and beat the Wildcats 3-1 just 11 days ago. The winner of that match earns the right to face the second-seeded Duluth East Greyhounds, who were 20-7 on the season.
