In an effort to create secure sites, North Branch Area Public Schools has installed secure entrances at North Branch Area Middle School, the Sunrise River School, and the Brooker Bldg. Those wishing to enter these buildings during school hours will have to be "buzzed" in. A monitor near the door at the middle school and Sunrise will let office staff know when someone is waiting to get in, and visitors will have instructions to follow when they arrive at the front door.

It is absolutely vital that schools know who is in buildings at all times during the school day and these systems will greatly enhance the safety and security of both students and staff where they are installed, said Superintendent Dr. Deb Henton.

As with any new system, "kinks" are expected. North Branch Area Public Schools kindly asks for visitors patience as staff become accustomed to these systems. While the secure doors may be considered an inconvenience in the short term, the district hopes the community will realize the security benefits of the systems in the long-term.

These systems were installed using capital funds, not operating funds. If you have any questions about the systems, please call 651-674-1000. The district thanks visitors for their patience in advance of the school year.
