After going 3-1 in the North Branch tournament last week, the Vikings avoided a letdown against the hapless Columbia Heights Hylanders.

The Vikings came out blasting, taking the first set with relative ease, 25-12. Things just kept getting better for North Branch, as they crushed the Hylanders 25-10 in the second set, and by then, the writing was on the wall for Columbia Heights, who hasn't won a North Suburban Conference game in a shade over two years.

In the last set, even with a mostly substituted lineup in, North Branch still reeled off a big win, taking the third set 25-17 to complete the sweep.

"It was great to see us take control of the match from the beginning and play consistant the entire night," Head Coach Kari Francis said after the dominating victory. "We were able to get a variety of lineups in during the night which helps continue to build our versatility."

At 6-4, North Branch is about to hit the busy part of their schedule. Starting on Thursday, Sept. 30, the Vikings have four conference matches, one section match up and two tournaments -- one in Mora and the other in Blaine -- over the next two weeks.

As if that isn't enough on the plate of a young team like North Branch's they cap off the season with the Dig Pink event on October 18, which is an even to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.
