After dropping a contest to the Chieftains last year, the Wildcats rebounded with a big win over their Wisconsin rival early on.
There were stretches when the boys didn't seem up to the task, but when push came to shove, they always answered with a little run of their own and held on for the eight point win.
Per Gulbranson led the way with 19 points, fellow senior Eli Trochman had 10 points and Mitch Berg and Vinnie Gorski had nine points each.
Big Lake 68, Chisago Lakes 47
The Hornets hosted Chisago Lakes before both team's Christmas break, and they were able to send the Wildcats home wishing for more.
Big Lake built a big lead early and led by 14 points by halftime while the Wildcats couldn't get anyone to step up on the offensive end.
By the end of the game, Big Lake held a 19 point cushion and only Clay Houfer was in double-digits for the Wildcats, scoring 11 points. Andrew Paulon, Gulbranson, Gorski and Berg were the other Wildcats to score at least five points on the night.
CL begins their holiday tournament tonight by hosting Blaine, St. Paul Highland Park and Bemidji.
