In the semifinals of the section 7AAA boys' basketball tournament, the Vikings lost to the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks 69-56. The game was played at Hibbing last Tuesday, March 15. The loss ended the Vikings' season.

The Vikings had beaten the fourth-seeded Chisago Lakes Wildcats to advance to the semifinal game against the top-seeded Thunderhawks. Grand Rapids built a 10-point lead by halftime and held off the Vikings to earn the trip to the state tournament.

Playing in their final high school basketball game, five of the Vikings' eight seniors did all of the scoring. Forrest Huset led with 25 points. Christian Ehrnriter and David Leason had 11 points apiece. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were Scott Bossard with six points and Alec Schwab with three points. Viking head coach David Anderson did not respond to requests for comments.
