County Sheriff's Department busts good-sized marijuana grow site
This is some of the marijuana crop hung upside down for drying in a pole building, where authorities executed a search warrant March 18. An arrest was made March 21 and authorities then released details about the huge grow operation that was busted. East Central Electric cooperative reported a theft of service at an address in Sunrise Township, on Mica Avenue and a large indoor greenhouse was discovered. The electric metering unit had been by-passed, according to ECE personnel. The sheriff's investigator reports in excess of 200 plants were seized along with about five pounds of hashish. The high potency dried marijuana is valued about $275,000. A man from Big Lake, MN was apprehended three days after the search warrant was executed. He is thought to be the owner of the property. Additional arrests are pending.
