Chisago Lakes Primary and Lakeside Elementary schools are taking part in the Green Sneakers Eco Challenge for Education. Schools have the opportunity to win $20,000 for collecting new or gently used tennis shoes. "Even if we don't win the top prize, our school will receive 50 cents per pound for all the shoes collected" says PTO President Claudia Alm. "Each pair of tennis shoes we collect, translates into money for our schools." An average pair of shoes weighs about 2 pounds, that's roughly $1 a pair.

You are encouraged to drop shoes off at either the Primary School or Lakeside Elementary now through May 13.
