The County Board accepted terms last week to move ahead with hiring a new county administrator. Bruce Messelt, who has been city administrator for the city of Lake Elmo for two years, was extended an offer on a 4-1 vote by the Board in July. (Commissioner Mike Robinson opposed).

Over the last several weeks Messelt's contract and start date have been under negotiation. It is agreed Messelt will start November 1. He will receive an annual starting salary of $99,070. He has a six month performance review at which time he could earn a two percent incentive.

Former Chisago County Administrator John Moosey left to take a public managerial post in Alaska, in April. The Board established a subcommittee which interviewed applicants and narrowed the field to three finalists for Board consideration.
