Chisago Lakes lost a great one this week; have a wonderful Easter with your family

I am writing to you today with a very heavy heart. One of our area’s real gems passed away this week. Jeff Chartrand who many of you know from our community has gone to a better place. For those of you who don’t know Jeff, he has been in our paper quite a bit over the last few months. Jeff has been instrumental in bringing the local Masonic Lodge to the forefront recently.

He, along with the other Masons, have made the Masons much more visible, approachable and most importantly involved in the community. Jeff was key in the Masonic Match which allowed the National Masonic Lodge to match any amount that was raised locally for the food shelf. In fact, just last week, we ran a picture of Jeff along with some other Masons presenting a $16,000 check to the local food shelf. That was not the first time they presented such a large sum of money.

For those of you who knew Jeff, I can only think of one word. Sorry. No make that two words...Lucky. Jeff was a great man who was as passionate about the community he lived in as anyone around. He will be missed by all. Can you believe that it is Easter already? The winter went by so quickly, I guess it helps when there is no snow and warm weather. Do you want to hear something really crazy?

I mowed my lawn on Sunday.  I have never mowed my lawn on April 1, never. The really weird thing about mowing was that my lawn actually needed it. The one good thing about warmer weather is that hopefully we have a great Easter.

Imagine, we could be outside flying kites in our shorts on Easter. I remember a short while back, my family was out on the ice walking around the shoreline on an Easter Sunday. Speaking of Easter, I truly mean this, please have a wonderful Easter. Try to spend it with your family. If your family enjoys a nice meal at a restaurant, there are some great restaurants in our area that are featuring Easter Brunches.

Just take a look through this edition of the Press and you will find them. Happy Easter to you and your family. I hope you have a wonderful day. The Chisago Lakes Wildcat wrestlers and their booster club would like to invite you to their annual Wrestling Extravaganza on April 14. I know I wrote about it last week, but they really need your help. They need to sell some more tickets. They need to sell about 100 tickets between now and the event. If you had been thinking of attending the event, I would highly recommend it. I have been to both of the first two, and had an absolute blast. Everyone around me went home with more money in their pockets than they paid for the tickets. Wouldn’t winning the grand prize of $5,000 feel good?

Please call Joe at 651-257-1000 or 651-335-1126 to order your tickets. We have began our early renewal campaign once again. On page two, you will see a coupon for renewing your subscription to the Press. Simply cut out the coupon and send it in along with your payment and we promise you won’t miss a single issue of the Chisago County Press. We have a special gift for our readers this year. Instead of giving away something to our new subscribers, we are offering a really cool t-shirt to our existing subscribers if they refer a new subscriber to us.

All you have to do is make sure the new subscriber mentions your name when subscribing, and we will be sure to get you a t-shirt out promptly.
