Late last week, we mailed out our blue renewal cards. It is a reminder that everyone’s subscription to the Chisago County Press are due in the beginning of May. I think we had a snafu this year in our mailings. I think some people who have already paid for their renewal early, may have gotten a blue card in the mail. If you were one of those people, I apologize. If you already paid your subscription, please disregard the blue card. I thank you in advance for sunscribing to the Chisago County Press. Without you the readers, we would not exist. We truly appreciate each and every reader and strive to make this one of the best newspapers in the state. We do have a few specials for our subscribers right now. If you refer a new subscriber to the Chisago County Press, you are eligible for one of two things.

You can receive a cool t-shirt with the County Press Logo on the front with the word “Reader” on the back, or you can receive $5 cash. Either way, you win. Just make sure the new subscriber tells us who referred them and that they are a new subscriber. I just spoke to Dr. Virga about the Chisago Lakes Wrestling Extravaganza. He told me the event still needs to sell about 45 tickets just to break even. I know there are a lot of people out there who have been thinking about attending, but have yet to purchase their tickets. I would urge you to call today and reserve yours. It is this Saturday at Stacy Lent Town Hall.

If you do decide to go, you will not only get a great meal for two, but you will be eligible to win a grand prize of $5,000. If you are not a huge wrestling fan and maybe have kids in other sports, I just want you to know this event will benefit five Chisago Lakes sports programs. So come on out, have a great time and feel good that you are supporting a great cause. For tickets please call 651-257-1000 or 651-335 1126. Ready or not, here it comes.

I am referring to the split pairs project about to begin here in Lindstrom. I am sure you have noticed all of the surveyors around town marking up the roads. You may have noticed all of the big machinery sitting on the former Napbco property. It looks like the Napbco building will be knocked down Monday morning. I think that is when this whole construction reality will hit people. The construction will begin on 1st Street first. So if you are a regular to the post office, make sure you have plans for alternative parking. I am going to only say this one or two thousand times over the next year or so, but please, please try to visit and do business with the businesses affected by the construction. If we simply avoid going up town because we don’t want to deal with the construction headache, well guess what, these businesses that we all love so much could possibly not be there when it is all said and done.

These businesses need you now more than ever before, and with a concerted effort, we can make sure everyone gets through this rough time. Our website has a link on our homepage called Explore Lindstrom. If you click on the link, you will be directed to an entire website dedicated to the construction. You will find facts and questions about the construction along with a map of local businesses and listings. You will see updates on the construction along with photos.

They have made it very interactive for the public to be a part of this project. I have said this before, wether you are in favor of the split pairs or dead set against it, one thing is certain. It is happening. We need to band together and get through this in one piece.  With the public’s help, we can do just that.
