Recently when The Friends of Allemansrätt Wilderness Park wanted to create a logo they decide a logo contest would be a fun way to get one. They then called Chisago Lakes High School art teacher Marlene Biondo. Mrs Biondo agreed to have a contest in her drawing class. All 17 students used their drawing skills, implementing elements and principals they had been taught, to create a logo for the group. The Friends of Allemansrätt then voted for their 3 favorites designs. It was tough for the group to decide as there were many wonderful designs to choose from, all the kids had done a great job and the group was impressed with the quality of the logo designs. Once they picked their 3 favorites they sent those back to the students for revisions and touch ups. At that point Mrs Biando brought in graphic designer Darrell Trulson from Penline Productions to help the students. He worked with each of the 3 finalists, helping them revise and fine tune their designs to give them a professional look. Then, once again the Friends of Allemansrätt voted.

This time they picked which of the 3 would take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Again it was a tough decision and there was a lot of discussion before the final votes were placed. As you can see in the illustrations all 3 finalists had a great design. 1st place went to Connie Klippen, (10th grd), 2nd place went to Chandler Rehbein, (10th grd) and 3rd place went to Kaitlyn Owens, 11th grd. Friends of Allemansrätt president Rich Bachman had the honor of presenting the winners with their prize money and thanking them for a job well done. The “Friends of Allemansrätt Wilderness Park” believe that the wilderness is valuable and worth preserving, and that the wilderness experience should be available to all people. In that regard the group supports the city of Lindstrom and it’s Park Commission by helping them with the park. We will do this through many means including removing invasive species, trail maintenance, community and educational activities, fundraising, etc. We encourage anyone interested in the park or group to join us at our next meeting, Tuesday, May 22, 7 p.m. at the Chisago Lakes Chamber of Commerce building, the (old library in Lindstrom.)
