Six different players scored for the Wildcats and goalie Jake Dubose stopped 20 of 21 shots as the Wildcats beat the Spring Lakes Park Panthers 6-1 Tuesday, January 24 at Fogerty Arena in Blaine.  Most of the game was played with players from one or the other or both teams in the penalty box as the teams combined for 71 minutes in penalties.  Two Panthers and one Wildcat were given game misconduct penalties for checking from behind.  The Wildcats converted three of 12 power play opportunities for the game while killing off all seven Panther power plays.
Neither team scored in the first period.  In the second period, the Wildcats outshot the Panthers 10-4 and scored four times, with Trevor Lushanko picking up three points.  Dan Kimlinger led off the scoring with a goal at even strength, assisted by Justin Bye.  The Wildcats then scored three straight power play goals.  Trevor Lushanko scored an unassisted goal; Jacob Speight put one in the back of the net, assisted by Lushanko and Kimlinger; and Daniel Sargeant scored, assisted by Bradee Thomson and Lushanko.
Bye scored 22 seconds into the third period, with assists going to Kimlinger and Sargeant, to stretch the Wildcat lead to 5-0.  The Panthers got on the board three minutes later.  Cole Peloquin got that one back with a goal less than a minute later, assisted by Trevor Bluhm and Jacob Speight, to give the Wildcats their final margin of Victory.
 
St. Louis Park 4, Chisago Lakes 3
Trailing 4-1 early in the third period, the Wildcats scored twice to pull within a goal.  But the St. Louis Park Oriole defense and goalie managed to keep the hard-charging Wildcats at bay and the Wildcats lost 4-3 last Thursday, January 26 at Chisago Lakes Arena.  The Wildcats outshot the Orioles 40-30 for the game.
The Orioles scored the only two goals of the first period.  Brandon Gillespie scored a power play goal midway through the second period, assisted by Bradee Thompson and Dan Sargeant, to pull the Wildcats within one.  St Louis Park tallied twice in the first two minute s of the third period to stretch their lead to 4-1.  Cole Peloquin lit up the red light at 6:16 of the third period to pull the Wildcats within two, assisted by Ben Knaak and Sargeant.  Sargeant scored a power play goal less than a minute later to cut the lead to one.  Gillespie and Colton Reynolds picked up assists on the play.  But despite outshooting the Orioles 17-11 for the period, the Wildcats couldn’t put another one away to complete the comeback.
 
Holy Family Catholic 6, Chisago Lakes 2
Holy Family Catholic outshot the Wildcats 48-21 and broke open a close game with three goals in the second period to beat the Wildcats 6-2 last Saturday, January 28 at the Victoria Recreation Center.
The Wildcats trailed 2-0 early in the first period before Bradee Thompson scored at 7:21, assisted by Trevor Lushanko, to pull the Wildcats within one.  Brandon Gillespie’s goal with two-and-a-half minutes left in the period tied the game at 2-2.  Jacob Speight picked up an assist on the play.  But Holy Family scored a heartbreaker with just two seconds left in the period to take a 3-2 lead into the intermission.  Holy Family scored again just 27 seconds into the second period for some insurance and put the game out of reach with two more goals later in the period.  The scoreless third period got chippy.  Nine penalties were called, including five of them in the last two minutes of the game.
The Wildcats (8-15-0 overall, 2-7-0 conference, 1-2-0 section) play conference foe Totino Grace tonight at 7 p.m. at the Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis.
