Each year Hunt’s Transportation Service selects the driver of the year. This year driver Liz Lunzer, of Lindstrom, is the driver of the year for 2011/2012. Liz was presented this award at the driver meeting in late May. Pete Beberg, safety directory, says that the selection process looks at the driver’s performance for the entire school year. Comments, concerns received from the public, school district, parents and students plus company administration all are considered. Driver’s ability in record keeping, punctuality, attitude and safety are also considered. The largest part is that the driver is voted on by their peers. According to General Manager Dave Webb, “Liz is always quick to offer help to others and volunteers without usually being asked.” We know she reflects this attitude with her passengers and fellow workers. Liz received a handcarved wooden school bus with a clock and is taken out to lunch by administration, and personal plaque and her named placed on a permanent plaque that stays in the garage. Six drivers this year received an award for missing zero days of work. Many of them have received this award since Hunt’s Transportation started in 2002. Driver George Schluter has received the award eight years in a row.
