SOCCER ROUNDUP: Girls tie, CL wins in rivalry
Chisago Lakes vs. North Branch The Wildcat boys hosted the Vikings last Thursday and came away with a 5-2 win. Earlier that same evening, the Viking and Wildcat girls’ teams battled to a 0-0 overtime tie on the same field. Check out next week’s Press for more details and interviews from these two games. Chisago Lakes Boys The Wildcats dropped to 3-4-2 on the season. After the win against North Branch, they lost 2-1 at Cambridge-Isanti and 6-3 at Columbia Heights. Chisago Lakes Girls Sandwiched around the tie with the North Branch, the punchless Wildcats (1-4-2) lost at home 2-0 to Benilde-Sr. Margaret’s and 1-0 to Esko/Carlton. The Wildcats scored 11 goals against the hapless Fridley Knights earlier this season; in their other six games combined they have scored a total of one goal. But they have allowed just ten goals so far on the season, so once they figure out how to put a few in the net they will once again become a dangerous team. North Branch Boys The Vikings went 1-3-0 over the past week and dropped to 2-7-1 for the season. Logan Klatt and Joe Prell scored two goals apiece in the Viking’s 6-1 win at Two Harbors on Saturday, September 8. Matt Blomquist and Levi Kolke also scored. Klatt had two assists to go along with his two goals. Prell, Brett Bergstrom and Ryan Zentner each had one assist. But sandwiched around the loss to the Wildcats, they were shut out 3-0 at Robbinsdale Cooper and lost 4-1 at Duluth Denfeld. North Branch Girls Star forward Bayley Ertl scored the lone goal for the Vikings (5-2-2), with a long assist from goalkeeper Alyssa Rupp in their 1-0 win at Robbinsdale Cooper last Tuesday, September 11.
