Trial proceeding on Showers fatal shooting case

The County Attorney confirms that felony charges have been filed against a suspect who authorities allege was involved in a fatal shooting incident at a home north of Center City, September 29, 2011.

William (Billy) Showers, 15, died as a result of being shot in the neck, according to a sheriff’s report. The suspect, who is now 18, will be tried for intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers the safety of another. Trial is tentatively set for May 20.

The defendant is not being petitioned to stand trial in the adult court. Although he is no longer a “minor,” he was legally a juvenile when the shooting occurred.

SHERIFF REPORT
March 26 a report of a break-in at the Shafer Storage units. Loss not detailed but a forced entry was obvious.

Deputies were dispatched to Lions Park in Stacy, about 7:30 p.m. March 30 and did detain a “group of juveniles” attempting to kick in doors to the park’s restrooms.

The next day, March 31, a report of a forced entry to Pizza Man in Stacy. A small amount of cash was taken along with the cash drawer.
