There was no state patrol report available pertaining to a crash Thursday, January 24 just south of where Pleasant Valley Road and Hwy. 95 intersect, about 9 a.m. The highway was detoured (closed) for approximately an hour as authorities responded and then cleared the scene.

Preliminary details from the initial complaint are that two injured parties were at first thought to need air transport but that proved unnecessary.

A St. Paul man was taken by ambulance to Regions, and there is no information about the driver of the second vehicle involved.

Also January 24 a Coon Rapids man was arrested on suspicion of DUI when his car was located, with him in it, through the ice into a few feet of water at the channel between Big and Little Green Lake. Incident was called in about 6 p.m.

January 23 a tractor-trailer tipped while making a turn off Bench Street to head east on Hwy 8, in Taylors Falls. There were hay bales on the trailer that were collected off the street by the next day, but nobody was hurt in the incident.

It was reported about 5:40 p.m. Friday, Jan 25 local authorities got involved in pulling over a car, on I-35, that was reported stolen. The incident started as an assist to North Branch Police about midnight, with somebody fleeing a minor hit & run reported in North Branch. A deputy gave chase at I-35 and the vehicle exited and was stopped in Harris and the driver fled.

The suspect, a 32 year old male from St. Paul, was tracked by the K-9 unit. He was arrested, hiding near Cty. Road 9. In securing the vehicle for a tow some interesting items were inventoried in the car...photo-copied dollar bills and bar codes and receipts from a retail store. The county attorney is reviewing the findings.

Theft arrest made, charges pending against White Bear Lake area man
Lakes Area Police Dept. investigators are wrapping up a case involving a safe stolen earlier this month from Meredee’s Bistro, Chisago City. A 35-year -old suspect has been identified and is being held in Ramsey County on their charges, and awaits an appearance in court here. Lakes Area Deputy Chief Bill Schlumbohm said the investigation turned up burglary tools. The safe that was removed from the cafe earlier this month has been recovered. The same suspect is believed to have tried unsuccessfully to steal items out of the Happy Wheels car wash. Videotape from there provided authorities with decent surveillance images, the deputy chief added.
