Inga Patton, age 84, of Lindstrom, MN died peacefully at her home surrounded by her husband and children on June 4, 2013.
Inga was born in St. Paul, MN on December 14, 1928 to her parents, Ted and Paula Hansen. Inga married Bill Patton on February 8, 1947. They lived in the St. Paul area and then moved to Lexington, MN where they raised their six children. She lived inLindstrom, MN twice during her life. The first as a child with her parents and again with Bill as they entered their retirement years. Inga was working for the telephone company when she met Bill, then stayed home raising kids and ended her employment years working in accounting/payroll departments for various trucking companies. One of Inga's favorite things to do was spend time with her parents and her siblings and their families at her parents’ farm in Askov, MN. She also loved doing needle work and tending to her flower gardens.
She loved sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee and listening to all the songs of the birds. At the great appreciation of her husband and children she loved cooking and baking. You never visited her home without a huge display of cookies, bars and cakes being put on the table. Her true specialty was Christmas Eve. She spent days and days baking every kind of Christmas cookie you can think of, making sure she had everyone's favorite, along with homemade candies. And of course that was served after a gigantic tasty meal, which also included everyone's favorites. Inga struggled with a five year fight against ovarian cancer. She was very determined and strong during her illness. Her oncology doctor referred to her as his poster child and he used her as an example for his other patients. She was very proud of that. Inga loved her family and they were blessed to call her wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Inga is survived by her husband, Bill; her six children; Tom Patton, Karen (Dean) Rogers, Barbara (Tim) Freeman, Lynn Peterson, Debbie (Steve) Schminkey and Kathi (Lloyd Lievsay) Olson; 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Bob (LaVonne) Hansen, Ann Berres and Jane Abrahamsen; also her many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Paula Hansen, son in law Dave Peterson and infant granddaughter Tanya Rae.
Memorial services were Tuesday, June 11 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom with Rev. Richard Baumann, officiating. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Association or to the Fairview Wyoming Infusion department in Wyoming, MN
