A symbol of pride for community

A symbol of pride for community
A symbol of pride for community

It has been a privilege to start serving our community as Activities Director during the 2012-2013 school year. With a coaching and advising staff as well as a student body that is second-to-none, it is an honor to work with all of our programs.

And what a year’s it’s been! State tournament teams already in Boys Cross Country, Dance, Wrestling and Girls Basketball. Our teams have had great success. But we are also looking at redefining “success” for all of our programs.

Organization, Relationships and Vision……..
This year, we have begun a professional development plan that will emphasize organizational skills, relationship-building and vision development within our staff. While all three areas are important, strong relationships within all of our programs is by far the most important. Our goal is to help every student reach their full potential while becoming great, mature contributors to our community. We want all students to feel valued and significant within a program whether they are an all-state athlete or not. We want every student to know they are important to the team and that they have much to give! We will always continue to grow in how we work with all of our kids!

Moving forward……
As we look forward to joining the Mississippi-8 Conference in all activities next fall, we are also looking forward to new opportunities for all of our coaches, advisors, students and families in enhancing the quality of all of our programs. One important opportunity will be on August 19. On that evening, we will have a special presentation by national speaker Mark Hull as he presents to all of us how to, “Be a Parent of a 21st Century Athlete”. On that evening we will expect at least one parent of every CLHS athlete-no matter what season the student participates- to attend. It will be an awesome evening! We also will be providing personal development sessions throughout the fall for our coaches/advisors as well as many of our student-leaders as we continue to work at enhancing the quality of our Activities Department. We are proud of our accomplishments within our activities program so far this year. But, we will always be working at improving all aspects of our program so it continues to be a symbol of pride for the Chisago Lakes community.
