Fatality on I-35
State patrol reported a fatality in a single vehicle rollover crash, Wednesday May 8 on I-35 between North Branch and Harris. North Branch Police assisted at the scene. The crash was reported about 7 p.m. and blocked traffic while responders were at the scene.

Preliminary details are that a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 16-year-old from Iowa, rolled into the median of the freeway while southbound and the rear seat passenger was ejected. Pronounced dead at the scene was 54-year-old Julie Koen of Cloquet, MN. A second passenger, a 47-year-old male also from Iowa and the driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. A Fish Lake Township farmer reported hydraulic cylinders had been removed from a tractor, loss is about $1,000.

Grass fire reported Sunday May 12 in Sunrise, off Ivywood Ave. about 4:40 p.m. Harris and DNR firefighters were dispatched. Cause was an uncontained burn pile. Suspect was illegally burning during an outdoor burn-ban and prohibited materials were also part of the pile. Another burn (in a barrell) in violation of the burning ban caught a tractor on fire. The incident was reported about 4 p.m. May 12 off Redwing and 260th in Franconia Twsp.

Kubota Tractor was valued at $30,000. Shafer-Franconia First Responders were sent to the scene of a motorcycle and car crash at the Osceola bridge road and Hwy. 95 about 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12. No details were available from the state patrol. The motorcyclist was reported by dispatch to have been “alert and conscious” when transported. No information available on passenger car occupant(s). There also were no details available yet from state patrol on a crash on Hwy. 8 and 275th Sunday, May 12 a little after noon. One victim was airlifted.
