This weekend is the annual Chisago Lakes PTO Craft and Art Fair. Held on Saturday at the Chisago Lakes Middle School, you will find tons of crafters and food. There is everything from fine art to knitted stocking caps. Plenty of gift items for your Christmas. The fair runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

While you are out and about on Saturday, please stop by Lindstrom for the first ever WalkAbout. What is a walkabout? It is a chance to explore Lindstrom up close and personal. There will be children's activities, sales, music, chocolates and more. This is your chance to walk up and see the new masterpieces by our local artist Ian Dudley. The walkabout begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m.

During your walk through Lindstrom, make sure to stop at Gustaf's Galleries. They are having famous wood carver Cooper Ternes as a guest along with some of his beautiful carvings. There will be wood carving demonstrations from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

I could spend an entire column on Saturday’s happenings. Eichten's Bistro is having their ultra-popular Wine and Cheese tasting event at 11 a.m. This is your chance to try some of the greatest cheese in America paired with the perfect wine. I am more of a beer person and they have tons of unique beers for us.

The Lindstrom Post Office is now collecting items for Operation Support Our Troops. Items collected will be put together in care packages and mailed to US troops overseas. There is a drop box at the Post Office and you are encouraged to donate one or more of 26 items. I am not going to list them but some of them include seasonal treats, lotions, beef jerky, calling cards, greeting cards, sunflower seeds, CD's, DVD's and so forth. The post office has a complete list as well, and we do at the Press.

Edward Jones Financial in Chisago City and Lindstrom are partaking in the Anonymous Santa program this season. Beginning today, you will be able to drop off your presents at either site. They will be accepting donations until December 16. If you need more info on the program, you are encouraged to go to www.anonymoussanta.net.

Congratulations to the Chisago Lakes boys cross country team.  They had a strong showing in Northfield at the state meet on Saturday. While they didn’t win their placings were awesome nonetheless. Andy Magnuson finished in 26th place and Zac West finished in the top 100.

Congratulations also go out to Rhianna Rinke for her trip to state. She finished in the top 70 runners.  Quite an accomplishment!

Congratulations and a thank you go out to Coach Weiss and his Wildcat football team. They unfortunately fell to Brainerd on Friday, but not before putting up a great fight.  Thanks for providing us with some wonderful entertainment this fall.
