Richard C. Genung, age 73 of Center City, passed away peacefully November 17, 2013 after a courageous fight with brain cancer. He served in the Navy and wintered over Antarctica in 1960-1961. Dick worked for Andersen Windows in Bayport until retirement and served on the Shafer Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

He had a lot of community friends, had a kind heart and was very generous to all. His passion was his yard – he loved to sit on his tractor and mow. Everything had to be perfect and people would drive down the highway and honk their horns when they saw him. He loved it! And he loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by all.

Dick is survived by wife Jackie; sons Darren (Chris) of Osceola, and Jason of Lindstrom; daughters Pia-Kim Genung of Minneapolis, and Rebecca (Susanna) Fenner-Genung of Olympia, Washington; four grandchildren; brothers Timothy (Joyce) of Monticello, and Donald (Diane) of St. Francis; sisters Sharon Bird of Andover, Kathy (Al) Johnson of Maple Grove, and Susan (Ron) Berg of Yakima, Washington; and sister-in-law Margaret Genung of Zimmerman. Dick is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon, and his brother James Genung.

Memorial Service 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences may be left online at www.grand stranddfh.com. Thanks for Honking!
