State patrol reports Forrest Burton, 72, of rural Chisago City was driving his Ford truck Friday, Oct 4 about 11:30 a.m. northbound on Hwy 95 (near Marine-on-St Croix.) At 240th Street a Chevy Venture car that was westbound on 240th pulled out in front of Burton. The roadway was described as wet, and the truck was unable to stop and hit the car. Both vehicles slid into the ditch and the Chevrolet caught fire, killing the driver. He was identified by state patrol investigators as 80-year-old Kenneth Ostlund, of Marine.

Report of theft from empty house in Sunrise Township October 4. Wires made with copper had been pulled and antique cream separator bowls were also taken. Also Oct 4 about 3 a.m. Lakes Area Police were called to assist at a suspected burglary at a business on Innsbrook Ave. in rural Wyoming. The county K-9 unit was also called out but suspect was not located. October 2 Lakes Area officers responded along with EMS to the Chisago Lakes High School for a suicidal student. The youth was transported voluntarily for medical attention.
