Smooth move for historic parsonage, as townsfolk look on

Earlier this week the congregation of Immanuel Lutheran in Almelund said goodbye to the church’s historic parsonage, which was moved to make room for extra parking and storage. LiteHOUSE Movers from Wisconsin handled the project Tuesday morning, starting at 8:30 a.m. Power service was off for only 35 minutes as overhead lines were killed and shifted to make way for the structure to get out of town.

Immanuel Church Secretary Merrie Tolzmann said the house was sold for $1 to a newly relocating family with four kids, and it sits just four miles east of the church. The church committee also considered demolition and opted to move the building. We are all excited that a family will re-use the structure and build a life together in the old parsonage, she added. This was actually the second church pastor homestead, the first house the church used is on Maple Lane in Almelund. Crews will fill in the old homesite’s foundation and the lot will be improved for parking soon.
