Introducing The Birthday Box Project with Family Pathways. The Birthday Box Project provides neighbors in need the proper items to celebrate birthdays without the worry of how to pay for the “extras”. Many people in our community struggle to stretch their money to make all the monthly bills. As a birthday approaches instead of being filled with joy and excitement they are filled with anxiety as to how to find the money to purchase birthday items. Items that may seem easy enough for us to pick up to prepare for a celebration are out of reach for so many.


Cake Mix, Frosting, Sprinkles, Candles, Cupcake Liners, Birthday Plates and Napkins, Balloons, small gifts such as: Crayons, Markers, Color books, Games and Books are being collected. The following locations are collection sites for The Birthday Box Project: Chisago True Value Hardware and Just Ask Rental in Chisago, Thrifty White Pharmacy in Lindstrom and the Swedish Village in Center City. Thank you to these stores that have stepped up to help with this project. Please stop by and donate some of the birthday items that are needed. Sven’s Factory (warehouse) in Chisago will be a .collection site for shoe boxes and wrapping paper for the Birthday Box Project. The collection box will also accept gift bags.

The collection boxes will be picked up weekly and brought to The Family Pathways Chisago Lakes Area Food Shelf. From there the items will be boxed up in decorated boxes and be available for birthday pick up. With roughly 200 families using the food shelf each month there is a great need to help celebrate birthdays. If you or your organization would like to have a collection site of your own or want to fill a box, please give a call to set something up. Wrapped birthday goods in boxes (items you collected) shut with a rubber binder. We think this project would be a wonderful opportunity for all ages to help out their community neighbors. We are very excited about getting The Birthday Box Project up and going and serving the Chisago Lakes Area families.
