25th Annual 'Noodlin' it up for Parmly' Sept. 26

Join us in supporting the community by attending the 25th Annual “Noodlin’ it up for Parmly” dinner at Elim Lutheran Church, Scandia on Thursday, September 26 from 4 pm to 6:30pm. This year’s Lasagna dinner and Scandinavian Auction will help support the South Chisago County Meals on Wheels Program. As with many social programs, Meals on Wheels has experienced a drastic decline in local, state, and federal funding.

South Chisago County Meals on Wheels is in its 36th year of providing meals to community members age 60 or over who have little or no support at their home on a consistent basis, and to those under age 60 who are severely physically handicapped or terminally ill. The average number of meals in 2013 is ahead of 2012, at an average of 1,000 meals per month compared to 786. With over 250 volunteers, the program provides outreach towards low income, minority, frail, disabled and isolated persons and delivers high quality, nutritionally complete, hot and cold component meals to individuals at their home Monday through Friday. The South Chisago County Meals on Wheels program is located on the Ecumen Parmly LifePointes campus and operates from the Parmly Lakeview Apartments in Chisago City.

Meals are prepared by qualified campus staff, then packaged and distributed by volunteers to Stacy, Wyoming, Chisago City, Lindstrom, Center City, and Shafer. If you know someone who can benefit from the South Chisago County Meals on Wheels program contact Jackie Law, MOW Coordinator at 651-257-0580. “Noodlin’ it Up” tickets are available for purchase at the door or in advance from Elim Lutheran Church, Security State Bank of Marine (Forest Lake, Marine, Scandia, & Lindstrom), The Central Bank (Forest Lake, Chisago City, & Center City), Wally Carlson’s & Sons in Lindstrom, Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City, and at Ecumen Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City.

Advanced tickets are also available by contacting the members of the Friends of Parmly Leadership Team. Tickets are $8 (advance), $9 (at the door) for ages 12 and over, $4 for children ages 3-11, and free for children under age 3. Families (two adults and three or more children under age 12) can eat for a total cost of $25.00. Scandinavian Auction items are donated by local businesses and craftsmen. Auction tickets are available the day of the event with winners drawn at 6:30pm. Supplemental funds for this event are provided by Washington County Thrivent. For more information, contact Emily Carlson, community events at Ecumen Parmly LifePointes, 651-257-7956.
