Donald F. Greene of Shafer died Monday, August 11 at his home, at the age of 90.

Donald was born to Bernard and Veronica Greene in Franconia Township on October 29, 1923.  He graduated from Osceola High School.  On June 24, 1950 he married his wife Mary at the Cathedral of St. Paul.  He was a lifetime farmer.  Don was a member of various farming organizations and he, along with his father, was a founding member of the Stillwater Knights of Columbus.  In his free time Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and making maple syrup.

Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, children Patrick Jude (Mary) Greene, J. Michael (Linda) Greene, Irene Mary Greene, Mary Margaret ‘Maggie’ Greene, Gerald Donald (Carla) Greene, Sheila Greene (Mark) Purcell, Rita Marie (Andrew) Shakal, Colleen Clare (Dale) Neumann, 25 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and brothers Eugene Greene, and Theodore (Luella) Greene.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, August 16 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church rural Shafer.  Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home www.grand strandfh.com.
