Karl Oskar Days had a huge turnout, two more big events coming - Co. Fair and Tri
All of the volunteers were so great and so helpful, it just made Karl Oskar Days seem so smooth. Thank you very much to the volunteers and especially to the Karl Oskar Days Committee for their tireless work both over the weekend and throughout the year.

Today begins another huge celebration for the area. The Chisago County Fair runs July 17 to 20 and is held in Rush City. Do not let the distance to Rush City scare you off, it is a beautiful drive up Highway 61 or a fast drive up the freeway. The fairgrounds are spreadout and the fair is actually very large. It is a great time, a relaxed time, a time to see friends and have some fun.
Beginning today, there are about a thousand 4-H events that the public is welcome to watch. Our family always enjoys seeing the chickens and the pigs.
The motocross is tonight (Thursday) along with a couple of bands on the the stage including Soup Bones.
Friday has many 4-H judging events including a horse show ad cow judging. Friday night is the ever-popular tractor pull at the grandstands followed by a concert by “5 Til Sunrise”.
Saturday 4-H continues with goats, horses and a dairy show. There is a robotics demonstartion and the Chisago County Fair Parade. The day wraps up with a 4-H livestock auction and the most popular event of all, the demolition derby.
Sunday has another horse show, free kids games for 10 and under children, a cat show, a wonderful talent show, and an awards presentation.
I know it sounds animal intensive, but all fairs are. The 4-H people are so great and love to show you their animals. The drive is short, the fun is abundant, so please, come up to Rush City this weekend.

Speaking of events, it is mid July, so that can only mean the triathlon is near. It takes place next weekend. You may have seen the signs around the area that say “Official Triathlon Route”.
The triathlon is such a huge vent for our area and for the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. It could not take place without the hundreds of volunteers that give up part of their weekend to make sure the event is a success. The chamber is still in need of many volunteers. If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, please give them a call at 651 257 1177. You can donate as much or as little time as yu like. You will not be turned down. Thank you in advance.
This will be the first triathlon without our good friend Sherwin Johnson. I swore last year that I was done with the motorcycle draft judging after the tragedy. But the more I have spoke with the group of bikers, the more they have convinced me to ride in honor of Sherwin. So I am going to give it one more try. He will be in my (all of our) heart the whole day. I am sure it will be fine, I will miss my bike partner cracking jokes.

We have had some pretty decent turnout for our Free Search Ads campaign. If you have not taken advantage of it, I would highly encourage you to do so. We are offering a free classified ad in the Search for those of you who have something to sell. The item(s) must be selling for less than $750. So let's say, you have a trailer that you want to sell for $300, just fill in the ad on our slip that is in the Press and the Search and either drop it off here or at Brink's Market, and we will help you sell your items. How easy is that? what do you have to lose? Besides the items you want to sell..
The snuff box was found hidden in the wrapping of the new statue in the west plaza by Danielle and Dawson Gall.
