This Saturday at Wild Mountain there is something really cool taking place.  They are hosting a “Rugged Maniac” obstacle race.  You are saying “What on Earth is a Rugged Maniac race?”  It is a three mile obstacle course where runners have to climb over and manuever shipping containers, slide down a massive water slide, crawl in underground tunnels, leap over fire, and other suprise elements.  The race is awesome to watch and even better to take part in.  At the end of the race, everyone sticks around for a great party that includes mechanical bull riding, adult bounce houses, dancing and many more games and activities.

The cost if you wish to race is $90 per person.  It seems a little steep, but proceeds go directly to the USO which offers Americans a way to say thank you to our troops and their families.  So you get to have a blast and do some great things with your entry fee.  You can register by clicking on the Wild Mountain Banner on our website.  from there, click on Rugged Maniak 5K in the Upcoming Events.

Hay Days is also this weekend.  If you are a snowmobile enthusiast, you will be in Heaven.  You will find everything from the latest line of snowmobiles to a swap meet where you can find that part for your 1988 Polaris Star.  There are grass drags and everyone’s favorite the crazy jumps with ATV’s and snowmobiles.  It all begins for the public Saturday at 7 a.m. at 38740 Oriole Ave.

This weekend is Rally Sunday for many local churches.

Rally Sunday is your chance to visit local churches and see what they stand for and how their churches functon.

If you have been thinking about joining a church, this is the weekend for you.  There is no pressure, and any and all newcomers are welcomed with open arms.  Personally speaking, I came back to the church a few years back.  I had drifted away as many young adults do.  Without getting too wordy, let’s just say it has changed my life.  For the better.  I can’t believe I was gone for so long.

So I would encourage you to try a church, any church, any denomination.  You will feel a sense of welcome you never would have imagined.

Speaking of churches, St. Bridget’s Catholic church in Lindstrom is hosting its annual block party on Saturday.   Yes it is held by the Catholic Church. Is it just for Catholics? Absolutely not!  Everyone and their brother  are invited to this great event.  There are kids games, a silent auction, a great turkey dinner, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, a $5,000 cash raffle and the band Boogie Wonderland will headline.  Boogie Wonderland is a great band, I have seen them a couple of times.  I would highly reccomend you come up for some great times.  The event is held in the St. Bridget’s parking lot in Lindstrom.

Can you believe school has begun?  If you see me walking around with a down look, it is probably because I now have a child in high school.  I am definitely not ready for this.  Just yesterday I was dropping him off at the Primary School. Where did time go?
