Harlan E. Carlson of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Shafer, MN, died suddenly at Barron, WI, Saturday, September 6 at the age of 84.  
Harlan was born February 23, 1930 near Shafer to Melwyn and Edith Carlson.  He graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1948.  On October 21, 1951 he married his wife Mavis at First Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls.  He did several jobs but his passion was the farming that he did all of his life.   Harlan enjoyed collecting old tractors, socializing with friends and dancing.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 62 years Mavis.  He is survived by his children Fonda Sellman of Chisago City, Joy (Bob) Erickson, Connie Carlson of Rice Lake, Daryl (Lynnette) Carlson of Rice Lake, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and sisters Marcielle Rogers, Marilyn Tangen, and Grace (Ed) Bonderson.
Funeral service 11 AM Saturday Sept. 13 at First Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls.  Visitation one hour prior to the service e.  Interment will be in the Kahbakong Cemetery Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home.    www.grandstrandfh.com
