What a class of graduating kids; park grand opening Saturday
High school science teacher Jeff Saueressig then gave the faculty member speech to the graduating class. It was one of the best speeches I have ever heard. He told the kids how from day one of Kindergarten, he thought something was different about this class. He went on to point out how this class somehow seemed closer-knit then those of the past. His speech was filled with humor. His speech was filled with love. You could feel his pride for these kids and you could feel his sadness to be losing such a great class. I could be wrong, but I think you can find the graduation on You Tube. I would highly suggest you watch it, at least the speeches.
This Saturday you and your family are invited to Lindstrom. The city is proud to introduce the Grand Opening of Anderson Peninsula. Anderson Peninsula is a new extension of Allemansratt Park, an already beautiful nature park north of town. The city had the good fortune to get the land at a reduced value and also received a massive Trust for Public Land grant to make the opportunity too good to pass up. The new park contains some of the most scenic, beautiful untouched lakeshore in the county, and now you and I can call it our own. It has everything, woods, prairie, and wonderful lakeshore.
The grand opening will be this Saturday at 11 a.m. The park is easy to find, just go north on Olinda (across from Dairy Queen) and follow until you see the signs. I hope you can come out, the weather is looking good.
This Wednesday one of the local favorite summer events begins. Harmony in the Park kicks off a summer filled with wonderful music and entertainment. Every Wednesday you are invited to bring your lawn chairs or blankets to Lions Park in Lindstrom. You will find hundreds of your neighbors and friends there taking in some great music and the best part is it's free. The first performer is a big one. White Sidewalls will be on stage belting out all of your favorite 50's and some 60's music. This band usually packs them in, so I would get there a tad bit early. We will see you there!
This week we will have to do our least favorite thing here at the Press. We unfortunately have to stop the delivery to those who have yet to renew subscriptions. We have given almost an extra month of service, but the time has come to stop. So, if you happen to be one of those who have not renewed, this will be your last paper. Next week, if you did not renew, you will not get a paper in your mailbox. Do not worry, it’s no big deal. Everybody forgets or misplaces things. We can easily get you back up and running without missing beat. If you live in Chisago County, simply mail in a payment of $47. If you happen to live out of Chisago County, we ask that you mail a check of $49.50. We will assure you get your paper the next week.
I have said it before and I will continue to say it. You the readers are why we come to work each and every day. Our goal is to bring you local news that you can not find anywhere elese and hopefully report it in a positive way that helps promote our community. Thanks again for reading!
