Patrick James Buswell is in custody at the Chippewa County Jail in Wisconsin. He was apprehended by the Department of Corrections (DOC) Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the U.S. Marshals and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation at 2:40 a.m. in Chippewa County.

He was found at a rural residence in the Holcombe area, through interviews with associates. He is expected to face new criminal charges for escape in Minnesota and possible narcotics charges in Wisconsin.

The DOC thanks the Bayport and Stillwater police departments; law enforcement from Washington, Polk, Sawyer, Washburn, Chippewa and Rusk counties; the U.S. Marshals; and the public and media for assistance in this search.

He walked away from a minimum-security unit at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater on June 12.  He was a grounds crew worker, and while working, walked away from his crew and left institution grounds.

Buswell, age 40, is serving a 60-month sentence for a weapons offense. He was received in the state prison system on Jan. 5, 2015 and has been assigned minimum-custody status since Feb. 25, 2015.  His supervised release date was scheduled for Jan. 2, 2018.

Buswell is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 205 pounds.  He has brown eyes and black hair.  He is Caucasian, with fair skin.
