Rush City stabbing incident co-defendents plead guilty

Two suspects charged in connection with a stabbing incident in Rush City, September 24, 2014, have entered guilty pleas to felony level assault, and will be sentenced in May and June.
Ashley Marie Gorman, 24, pled to third degree assault in Judge Schoffelman’s courtroom March 5. She will be sentenced May 4.

Roger Bruce Nahl, 30, currently held in Washington County jail, entered a plea to third degree assault and is scheduled for sentencing June 15.

Gorman and Nahl were arrested following the stabbing of a 28-year-old man, who a Rush City patrol deputy came upon a little after midnight, as he walked on 6th Street suffering with obvious stab wounds.  The apparent motive, according to the preliminary investigation and statement of probable cause,  was that the vicim had relations with Gorman at a time that Nahl had been incarcerated earlier.  Nahl was seeking retribution for the alleged infidelities and Gorman accompanied him in the act of the stabbing.

Sheriff’s deputies made arrests last week, booking two Rush City men facing charges of theft from a Rush City manufacturer.  A sheriff’s spokesperson said the identification was made from surveillance camera footage recorded in late February, of activity in the J Graff storage lot.

Lakes Area Police were called to the Chisago Lakes high school on a complaint of a disorderly student March 6 about 1:15 p.m. The youth had accessed the school’s public address system to broadcast an “obscene” announcement.  The officers utilized a TASER to subdue and arrest the youth who was booked under the direction of a probation supervisor.

March 7 an ambulance transported someone injured on scene at last weekend’s Lake Martha ice racing activity.  The injury was reportedly unrelated to operating the motorbikes.

A number of reports of suicidal persons were responded to by Lakes Area officers over the week.
