Pearl was born September 23, 1911 at Clinton in Big Stone County, MN. to Arthur and Jennie Shoquist. The family moved to Taylors Falls and her father died when she was three, and her mother when she was 8. Pearl grew up in the home of her grandparents Hans and Emma Peterson. She was confirmed at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. On November 17, 1934 she married Elmer Nelson. They lived in Shafer, Buffalo and moved to Lindstrom in November of 1942. She worked as a telephone operator in Center City and Lindstrom. She then worked at Chisago Lakes Hospital in Central Sterile and later as a volunteer in C&NC.
Pearl and Elmer joined Trinity Lutheran in 1959. Pearl was a charter member of Morning Circle, the XYZs and enjoyed bible study classes very much. In her free time Pearl was active in the Lakeview Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was twice Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Chisago Lakes Hospital Auxiliary and C&NC Auxiliary for many years. Pearl and Elmer enjoyed traveling. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Land.
Funeral services were Tuesday, October 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery in Center City. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home www.grandstrandfh.com
