ABC Committee heads to Durham, give the gift of reading the Press
ABWK is made up of some of the nicest, most caring people I have ever met, and they (we) want to help you. If you or your neighbor are in need of some exterior repairs, we would love to hear from you. We are here to help you. It is as simple as a single phone call to 651-361-0229 or call me here at the Press at 651-257-5115. We will get the ball rolling and get you feeling great about your home.
Did you know that Chisago Lakes will have two - yes two girls playing basketball for the UofM? Bryanna Fernstrom who graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 2014 and Whitney Tinjum who graduated in 2012 will be playing basketball for the Gophers. Incredible. How neat is it that we will be able to take a short drive to Minneapolis to watch two of the best Wildcat basketball players play on the same team. I can’t wait for the season to begin. Loof for a feature story in the next few weeks in our sports section.
The America’s Best Community competition is getting serious. As many of you know, the ABC Committee has progressed to the semi-finals in Durham North Carolina. On Wednesday, April 28, they will be presenting to a panel of judges in hopes of progressing to the top 8. By making it to the next level, that would ensure the committee of an award of $100,000. That money would go towards the final presentation that would put Chisago Lakes in the running for the grand prize. Pretty exciting stuff. Amy Frischmon will be presenting for the Chisago Lakes Committee. You are invited to come watch her presentation at the Lindstrom Community Center. Please check the Chisago Lakes Chamber of Commerce Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon for the exact presentation time. Good luck amy, you will do great!
The Chisago Lakes Library has a couple of great events taking place in the near future. On April 22 and 23, they will hold their popular used book sale. Tons of great books at an even better price.
The other event is a large one. They would like to formally invite you to their 10th anniversary celebration. It seems like it was yesterday when I was checking books out from Sue Wilson at the old library. Time really flies. There will be food, music, a neat history video and fun for everyone. The gala is on April 26 and runs from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. I hope to see you there.
Please remember that our subscription renewals are due the beginning of May. Many of you have already sent in your renewal payments, thank you for your prompt response.
Have you ever thought about giving the Press as a gift to a relative, friend or neighbor? What a great gift it would make, 52 times a year, and a gift that keeps them informed of absolutely everything going on in the area. Call 651-257-5115.
